<aside> 💡 Flinn’s AI team is seeking a motivated and talented STEM student (undergraduate or graduate level) to join our AI research team as an intern. In this role, you will collaborate with seasoned data scientists, software engineers, and researchers to develop and optimize AI models and related tools. You’ll have hands-on exposure to the full lifecycle of our AI projects and direct involvement in creating transformative solutions. This role offers a lot of remote work flexibility, while we appreciate regular in-person interactions at our offices in Vienna, Berlin, or Paris.

Your contributions to our journey:

• Programming & Prototyping
  • Write efficient, well-documented Python code for data preprocessing, model training, and evaluation.
  • Create proof-of-concept demos and pilot programs to validate research ideas.
• AI Model Development
  • Assist in the design and implementation of machine learning models.
  • Contribute to model debugging, hyperparameter tuning, and performance evaluations.
• Research Support
  • Perform literature reviews and research on state-of-the-art AI techniques and frameworks.
  • Summarize findings to guide the direction of ongoing projects.
• Data Collection & Processing
  • Source and prepare data from internal and external datasets.
  • Clean, transform, and label datasets for training AI and machine learning models.
• Collaboration & Reporting
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including data scientists, product managers, and software engineers.
  • Present project updates, results, and next-step recommendations in regular team meetings

What you need to be successful:

• Education & Background
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a STEM field (Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related discipline).
• Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in Python with demonstrated experience in data manipulation libraries (e.g., NumPy, Pandas).
  • Understanding of version control tools (Git).
• Analytical & Research Skills
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and interest in emerging AI and machine learning methods.
  • Exposure to data analytics, statistical methods, or scientific research is a plus.
• Communication & Teamwork
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively.
  • Willingness to ask questions, learn new tools, and collaborate in a dynamic team environment.
